Genesee Country Village & Museum — Mumford, NY
About this venue
Genesee Country Village and Museum in Mumford is genuinely unlike anything else on this list. It’s the largest living history museum in New York State and the third largest in the country, sitting on hundreds of acres with an entire 19th-century village preserved on the property. For weddings, couples choose from a lineup of ceremony locations including historic churches, formal gardens, an apple orchard, and covered porches, with two rustic high-vaulted barns and a conference and banquet center available for receptions up to 250 guests. Every package includes a venue coordinator, free admission to the museum for all guests on your wedding day, personalized signage throughout the village, and designated photo time to explore the grounds. The venue also partners with Partyman Catering as their preferred in-house caterer. This is a seasonal venue operating May through October.
Why we love it
We say this every time and we mean it every time: give your photographer as much time as possible here. The photo locations at GCV are not just plentiful, they are wildly diverse. Historic log cabins, 1800s mansions, church yards, apple orchards, formal gardens, open meadows, covered bridges, brick pathways, and old-world storefronts are all within walking distance of each other. We could spend an entire hour just scouting and still find new spots. The variety means your gallery looks like it was shot across multiple locations when you never left the property.
The garden ceremony site is something we get especially excited about. It is lush, intentional, and beautifully maintained, and the historic architecture visible in the background gives every photo a timeless quality that you simply cannot recreate elsewhere.
And the coordination team there is top tier. They know this property better than anyone and keep the day running on track, which on a venue this large with this many moving parts is genuinely impressive.
