Bellevue Country Club — Syracuse, NY

About this venue

Bellevue Country Club in Syracuse is a historic landmark that has been a cornerstone of the community since 1914, and it shows in every detail of the building. Designed by Syracuse University architecture professor Justus Moak Scrafford in 1917 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the clubhouse sits on Onondaga Hill overlooking the Syracuse skyline with a Donald Ross-designed golf course wrapping around it. The Bellevue Ballroom is the centerpiece for weddings, featuring soaring 30-foot oaken ceiling trusses, antique brass and stained-glass chandeliers, stately brick fireplaces at each end of the room, and a hardwood dance floor. A separate Room on the Green with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the course rounds out the event spaces. In-house catering by Executive Chef Brendan Downey is included, and the events team handles coordination from inquiry through the last dance.

Why we love it

Winter weddings at Bellevue hit differently. Those fireplaces glowing at each end of the ballroom, the Christmas trees, the warm chandeliers overhead, the rich architectural details everywhere you look — it creates a level of coziness and elegance at the same time that very few venues in CNY can pull off. If you are a fall or winter couple who wants your wedding to feel warm, classic, and timeless, put this one on your list immediately.

As photographers, the ballroom itself is a dream to work in. The combination of natural light from the windows, the warm ambient glow from the chandeliers, and those gorgeous architectural bones means we are always working with great light and great backdrops without having to get creative. Everything just works.

And the coordination team, led by Heather, is consistently wonderful. They know this venue inside and out, they communicate clearly, and the day runs exactly the way it’s supposed to.
