If you’ve been dreaming of a barn wedding but don’t want to drive out to the middle of nowhere to have one, The Orchards at Rocking Horse Farm is your answer. Sitting just 10 miles south of downtown Syracuse, this venue gives you all the rustic charm without the commute. The three-story, 5,200 square foot authentic timber frame barn features vaulted ceilings, exposed beams, and a full bar made from reclaimed American Chestnut. Outside, 150 acres of property includes apple orchards, a pond, a tree farm, and multiple ceremony site options ranging from a birch tree aisle to the orchard itself. They only host one wedding per weekend, and couples have full access to the property from Friday through Sunday.

Why we love it

The detail that went into this venue’s outdoor garden and grounds is something we genuinely appreciate every time we’re there. Everything is intentional and well thought out, which means wherever we point the camera, something beautiful is already there waiting.

And then there’s the beer donkey. If you’ve never seen a miniature donkey toting drinks around a cocktail hour, you are in for a treat, and so are your guests. It’s one of those unexpected touches that gets people laughing and loosened up, and candid moments like that are exactly what makes a wedding gallery feel alive rather than posed.
