Covewood Lodge – Eagle Bay, NY

About this venue

Covewood Lodge in Eagle Bay is one of the most special wedding destinations in all of New York State, full stop. Built in the Great Camp style by master Adirondack builder Earl Covey and sitting right on the shores of Big Moose Lake since 1928, the property is equal parts rustic and breathtaking. The entire resort is yours for the weekend, including the historic main lodge with its three apartments and several rooms, plus 19 private cottages spread across the property that can accommodate up to 112 guests total on site. The tented ceremony and reception space looks directly out over Big Moose Lake, and because Covewood discourages back-to-back events, you get an unhurried, relaxed wedding weekend rather than a rushed single-day affair. Outside caterers are welcome, and the property handles outside food trucks and rehearsal dinner cookouts with ease.

Why we love it

This venue is a true destination experience, and that energy shows in every single wedding we have photographed here. When your guests are staying on the same property, exploring the same lake, and sharing the same weekend together, the whole day just feels different. More connected, more emotional, more fun. And all of that shows up in the photos.

Big Moose Lake is one of those settings that does the heavy lifting for us as photographers. The water, the balsam firs and cedar trees lining the shore, the Adirondack mountains in the background, the way the light reflects off the lake at different times of day — every single direction we point the camera is working. It’s one of the most naturally photogenic venues we have ever shot at.

The coordination team is absolutely spectacular. Running a wedding weekend at a full resort property takes a level of care and attention that not everyone can pull off, and the Covewood staff does it seamlessly. Couples and guests leave feeling completely taken care of, and that atmosphere carries all the way through the gallery.
